			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sounds like a <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/tech/wireless/phones/2007-12-05-att_N.htm">press release</a>, almost verbatim.  <a href="http://mashable.com/2007/12/06/att-so-open-it-hurts/">Stan Schoeder</a> agrees.</p>
<p>Nothing was &#8220;flung&#8221; - you could always put your account SIM in an unlocked phone.  And it isn&#8217;t any device we&#8217;re talking about here - it&#8217;s unlocked GSM devices only - CDMA, TDMA, etc. need not apply.  iPhone - forget it - that&#8217;s &#8220;very special.&#8221;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m waiting for reports on the &#8220;don&#8217;t have to sign a contract&#8221; bit, which should start circulating the moment someone walks into an AT&amp;T store looking for a new activation.  As for making money with services carried across their network&#8230;I suspect we&#8217;ll be waiting a lot longer.</p>
<p>The funny thing is, I actually like AT&amp;T.  But these smarmy press releases disguised as journalism need to go.</p>
